Sustainability for the Space Sector
Session Chair – Nathalie Meusy, ESA
Since November 2008, Nathalie Meusy has been in charge of Sustainable Development at ESA (European Space Agency) and now is the Head of Communication Projects. Prior to the creation of this office, she launched the Sustainable Development initiative at ESA in 2007. Since then, she has developed ESA’s first global sustainable development policy for its “environment and energy” activities as in its space agency program activities, but also in the governance and ethics of the organization itself. In 2010, she designed and launched the first Sustainability Report for ESA with expert support and input, and laid the groundwork for the first Sustainability Assessment System for the Agency. She has also supported collaborative projects within and outside ESA on topics related to Sustainable Development, including a dedicated cooperation with NASA to share best practices in this area.
